New York Jets Vs Kansas City Chiefs Sunday Oct. 1, 2023

The Kansas City Chiefs defeated the New York Jets, 23-20, in a "Sunday Night Football" game that attracted new spectators curious about Taylor Swift's presence. Patrick Mahomes started strong, ended fast, and survived two interceptions.

Swift, the reported girlfriend of prominent Kansas City tight end Travis Kelce, was among the A-list celebs that attended the prime-time game at MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford, New Jersey.

By his high standards, he had a quiet night, collecting six catches for 60 yards. On the Chiefs drive that resulted in Harrison Butker's 26-yard field goal early in the fourth quarter, breaking a 20-20 tie, Kelce did bring in two catches for 15 yards. Kansas City jumped out to a 17-0 lead after the first quarter, giving the game the appearance of being a rout. Isiah Pacheco, a former student of the neighboring Rutgers University, broke through the Jets' defense for a 48-yard touchdown run after Mahomes' 34-yard touchdown pass to Noah Gray.

As a result of a safety and two interceptions, the Jets' defense spooked Mahomes for much of the game, tying the score at 20-20.

Zach Wilson, the Jets' much-maligned quarterback, had a good game, but his fumble in the fourth quarter gave Kansas City the victory. In the dying seconds, Mahomes scampered for a 9-yard gain on third-and-8, allowing Kansas City to run out the clock.

Thanks to Swift's participation, the closer-than-expected game undoubtedly attracted people who don't often watch football.

Swift's denim shorts from the game were immediately recognized by her ardent followers, and they quickly sold out.

The $528 "Logo Lettering Denim Shorts" from the company AREA appear to be the shorts in question. The fourth week of "Sunday Night Football" is already in the books, and fans are eagerly anticipating the epic showdown between the San Francisco 49ers and the Dallas Cowboys.

The Kansas City Chiefs, who will visit the Minnesota Vikings at 4:25 p.m. ET, may be of greater interest to other fans.

The Chiefs have a 3-1 record, while the Vikings have a 1-3 record.

CBS will broadcast the Chiefs-Vikings game on television. It won't be revealed until later this week which regions will be able to watch the game on TV.

Rematch of the playoff game from last season in which the Niners defeated the Cowboys, 19-12, will be shown to NBC prime-time fans.

Dak Prescott of the Cowboys is still hurt by the defeat.
