In the intercontinental and tag team championship matches on Saturday, new champions were crowned, but the main event battle had the most significance.
After Cody Rhodes and Seth Rollins were beaten by The Rock and Roman Reigns, The American Nightmare and The Tribal Chief engaged in a Bloodline Rules battle for the undisputed WWE worldwide championship.Following a performance of "America The Beautiful," Stephanie McMahon made an unexpected entrance. This was the first WrestleMania of the Paul Levesque era, as she put it. Just in time for Drew McIntyre to arrive, a big band on stage started performing Scottish tunes. The challenger moved passed several dozen guys with swords. Rollins performed his songs with a band that was far more colorful.
At the first ring of the bell, McIntyre scored a tight two-count with a Claymore. After Rollins exited the ring, the challenger pursued him and executed a suplex before taking some time to deliver a statement about X.Though it cost him his reputation, the Visionary was able to knock a Pedigree to the floor. own knee. He stomped, but he only received a two-count. You could tell these men were not going to hold back because this was all happening in the first few minutes. The powerbomb, Pedigree, and Stomp sequence were all avoided by the Scottish Warrior.
This was a high-stakes, near-fall match, yet it was executed flawlessly. They made no attempt to chain wrestle or swap grips. It was a case of both guys shooting fatal shots until one of them did. After hitting a defiant Rollins with one more Claymore, the Scottish Warrior managed to pin him and win the World Heavyweight Championship. His expression seemed genuine as he accepted the title. This was a unique occasion following his rejection of major victory in front of supporters during the epidemic.
This was just the right kind of match. The audience gave both men a lot of energy, and they both produced fantastic performances. Even though McIntyre is a heel, he received a heroic response. He was tripped on top of the announce table when he tried to trash talk CM Punk. For their first-ever WrestleMania bout, Bobby Lashley, Angelo Dawkins, and Montez Ford faced off against Karrion Kross, Akam, and Rezar. The bout began immediately when Lashley and the Street Profits sent all three of their opponents out of the ring. Dawkins and Ford made it a point to get a table as quickly as possible, with Bubba Ray Dudley acting as the guest referee. There were no restrictions, so B-Fab and Scarlett ended up becoming violent. Chairs, garbage cans, and kendo sticks were occasionally carried into the ring and utilized by both teams.
When Bubba counted a near-fall, Kross ended up in his face, but Lashley took advantage of the situation to hit a Spear. Some classic Dudley Boyz taunts were performed by Ford and Dawkins and movements, much to the Philadelphia crowd's pleasure. Ford hit a huge frog splash to knock Kross through a table and win after one unsuccessful try.
This little moment of turmoil was entertaining and didn't linger too long.
AJ Styles vs. LA Knight was the third match of Night 2. This was one of the few fights this weekend that was just a regular singles match—there were no championships or unique conditions. Styles introduced a brand-new theme tune, but he didn't let it play for very long. The match began immediately as he dashed to the ring. They did a fantastic job of setting the tone for a grudge bout from the outset. After Styles came to Australia to attack Knight inside the Elimination Chamber in February, Knight had every right to be outraged. Before Sunday, this was one of the most unexpected matchups. Neither guy clearly had the upper hand or had anything more to lose, hence neither result would have been unexpected. The unexpected aspect, on the other hand, was how well-organized this contest was.
Although neither of these individuals was expected to provide a poor performance because they are both excellent, they were committed to making sure their work was not forgotten.
Knight won with the Backhand Flick after countering the Phenomenal Forearm.
In a Triple Threat match, Logan Paul defended the United States Championship against Randy Orton and Kevin Owens, with the title on the line. He entered the venue in a large truck, and a Prime mascot escorted him to the ring. Similar to how Owens wished him luck on Saturday, Zayn was waiting backstage. He arrived at the ring on a golf cart. Orton backed the cart up and offered The Viper a ride to the ring when it was time for him to enter. At first, Orton and The Prizefighter made this a handicap match by repeatedly suplexing Paul onto the announce table. Eventually, they understood that only one of them could prevail, and The Viper nearly nailed Owens with an RKO. They had a great conversation when KO managed to evade it.
WWE chose the ideal candidates to book against Paul once more. The trio of men collaborated to produce a match that surpassed any previous entertainment we had witnessed during the program. Between the three of us, we had some excellent moments, humorous exchanges, and inventive offensive play. Any grievances that might be identified would be little and unimportant. You have to appreciate the effort Paul puts into his matches, whether you love him or not. Orton hit an RKO on an announce table and removed YouTuber IShowSpeed from the Prime costume after he got in the way. Owens ended up getting a frog splash from after suffering an RKO. Two erstwhile comrades squared off for the WWE Women's Championship. Once close friends, Bayley and Iyo Sky were in Damage CTRL, but now The Role Model is battling by herself after being kicked out of the group.
Both ladies had impressive entrances, but once they entered the ring, they were all business. After they locked up, the challenger got the first takedown, forcing Sky to exit the ring in order to gather himself. The Genius of the Sky started concentrating on the limb that Bayley had been having issues with for a long time once she gained possession. There were a few particularly good moments in this intense back-and-forth battle. It was amazing how these two Superstars made it through all the mayhem and craziness we witnessed in every other battle. A typical competition devoid of weaponry and intervention seems significant. These ladies are exceptionally skilled at what they do. Though both ladies had some inventive ways to counter finishers, Bayley emerged victorious as the new women's champion once everything was said and done.
This was excellent from beginning to end. Cody Rhodes faced Roman Reigns in the main event at WrestleMania 40 for the second consecutive year. Brandi Rhodes made an appearance with her husband, and both men made grand entrances befitting of an occasion this size. Reigns was accompanied to the ring by an orchestra. When they eventually started moving, Rhodes shoved Reigns into the corner as they circled around one another. They worked a conventional fight at first, using grips, counters, and takedowns much like we would see in any other combat, even though this match was governed by Bloodline Rules.
Rhodes felt it was time to bring out a table after The Tribal Chief was sent into the ring post. Reigns returned the table beneath the ring after hitting a drive-by dropkick. just to infuriate the mob. They fought among the audience, by the ring, and in the ring. They employed whatever object they could find that could do harm, including firearms and stage pieces. This demonstrated why these two men should be in this position and was far superior to their tag bout on Saturday. They created an engaging main event by blending storyline with excellent wrestling. There were many false finishes to set up the final pin that would conclude the fight, including near-falls when both men used each other's finishing technique, as is customary in main event world title bouts. When the two Usos arrived, they proceeded to knock each other out by smashing through many tables near the stage. When Solo Sikoa walked up, he nearly lost Rhodes the bout, but John Cena intervened, knocking Sikoa out before using an attitude adjustment to strike Reigns.
To give us the Black Adam vs. Peacemaker fight scene that we will never see in a movie, The Rock strolled over. His lowest point was before The Shield's song became popular. With a chair in hand, Seth Rollins interrupted Reigns with a Superman Punch. The Undertaker's bell went off and the audience went wild. He entered the ring behind The Rock, delivered a chokeslam, and left as fast as he had come.
The American Nightmare grabbed Rollins after Reigns used a chair to take him out, and he hit three Cross Rhodes to ultimately beat The Tribal Chief.
The 40th annual WrestleMania concluded with a pleasing show that was, in every sense, overbooked. A number of the roster joined the new champion in the ring as he celebrated.
